This is a promising one using Microsoft WIA. Most newer scanners/cameras have WIA drivers, so if you figure out how to use this, you can control all those devices.

If you need to add the library reference in the code/propect window, look for "Microsoft Windows Image Acquisiont Library v2.0" and check the tickbox.
