the wizard is unable to create your report

Why, Why, Why? I cannot create a report in Access 2003. Everytime I use the wizard, I get the message above. I cannot open a report in design view either.

OK, I figured out that Access simply does not think I have a printer. I am using a network printer, but Access does not see it. I "installed" a driver to an empty port, set it as the default and was able to create reports. This is only temporary though. There will be other users of this data base, so I need to know how to get Access to recognize the network printer.

Access does recognize the network printer. Is is properly installed? Do the other Office applications "see" it?

Yes, all my other Office Apps "see" the printer. This is the reason it took me so long to come to this conclusion. I just could not think of anyother reason it would not work. I presume it is installed correctly, the IT guys put it on and like I said, I print to them all the time.

I have the identical problem... for some reason Access is not reading my default printer. I tried a trial version of Adobe 6.0 professional and Access was able to utilize Adobe as the printer, it was a roundabout way to create reports, then I could change back to my printer. Otherwise my IT mgr and other sources could not resolve this problem... I am wondering if it is hardware related?

I had the same problem, I could resolve with the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer, because I have a network printer by default, but I put by default the first one printer and it works.

Thanks

Does a report need to have a printer installed? I am having the same problem when I use my network printer(set up correctly since I can print to it) but when I set the XPS Document Writer as the default printer it works. Is there any way to get it to work with the network printer? also would it automatically "print" the report on physical paper everytime it is run? how can I set it to export to excel or something?

I would suggest starting a new thread with this query if I was Buy to Let Insurance, this was originally a thread started in 2004 but it just seems to have carried on through the years lol
