Re: Populate the name of the active control on focus in a form.

I can't figure out why you want to do this. It would sure annoy me as a user.

Re: Save & new button

Then put the GoToRecord outside of the If.

1. I strongly recommend that you not prompt if the user clicks the save button. He is taking a specific action by pressing a button, it is insulting...

Re: Code to export each query to separate csv BUT with certain conditions

I'm concerned that your defaults for the export are so strange. Are you using a non-English version of Access? I've never seen these settings as the default before. I do know that some non-English...

Re: Save & new button

Access is a RAD (Rapid Application Development) tool and it helps you. One of the things it does is to save a dirty record whenever it thinks it is necessary. That means that your record will get...

Re: I a little direction in starting my project

How many people are involved in updating the workbooks? How many workbooks are there? Is the format consistent? Do all the workbooks start with July?

Re: Counting

Two of the three suggestions do not consider a date range argument. Without it, whether you normalize the data or not, you will not get a count for the month.

Re: Populating a new form with fields from another table

I don't really care what combo2 and combo4 are. I was pointing out that WHATEVER they are, they aught to have some meaningful name.

Re: To 'Call' or not to 'Call'

Old habits die hard. Call was required in COBOL so I still use it.

There is an excellent albeit old book out there called "The Psychology of Computer Programming" by Gerald Weinberg. It is about...

Re: Junction table inventory

Kits are always a problem and I handle them the way Doc does. Kits get added into inventory and their component parts get taken out of inventory. You also need a transaction to break up a kit and...

Re: Total beginner lost with VBA and Macros

But before you start on any coding adventure, it would be wise to clean up your object names. Do you really know what combo217 and check186 are? Will you remember next month? What do you think...

Re: Enter date after use of tab

When you use "Me.", you should be getting intellisense to help you finish without typing. This gives you a clue that you are making a typo. Also, if you use CamelCase and type camelcase, when you...

Re: Help! Autonumber messed up

Resetting the seed does not change any existing autonumbers. It changes the "seed" which is the last issued number so that Access knows what the next autonumber should be. When Access inserts a new...

Re: Populating a new form with fields from another table

I agree with theDBGuy's assessment. A couple of observations:
1. it is helpful to us if you use code tags so that the code retains its formatting. It is difficult to look at large blocks of left...

Re: Counting

Except that the expression doesn't take date into consideration, there isn't anything wrong with it.

Your design, however, resembles a spreadsheet rather than a table in a relational database. To...

Re: Transfer Query to Excel Spreadsheet

What is on the other lines that you don't want to overlay? Why not just export ALL the rows? If Access is the master, then Access can replace the entire contents with up to date data.

Since...

Re: Transfer Query to Excel Spreadsheet

There seems to be some confusion regarding which file is the "master". Is it the Access database (it should be) or the Excel spreadsheet?

If the master is the Access database, just export all the...

Re: Help opening a report to display a group of records

The problem seems to be caused because you have mushed Trip number and leg into a single, text field. The solution suggested by theDBGuy may work because it compares the trip to the first part of...

Re: I a little direction in starting my project

No solution will work well as long as the workbooks remain the "database". Access is a RAD (Rapid Application Development) Tool. It is used to create applications to manage data. Access can store...

Re: forms to validate data and finally save in access

You can use wizards to create forms that the user can use to enter/update data. They won't be pretty but you can open them in design view and adjust control sizes and change the labels to user...

Re: Update Statement with a listbox Filtering & Combobaox

Arnel seems to have fixed your problem but how does the user identify what records need to be updated? This could quite likely have been simplified if you had used a query with a WHERE clause to...

Re: Forms Disappear

There may be some filter on the nav pain (sic) that is causing new items to not show. Try entering a new filter and see what happens.
