Re: Export .DAT file

Re: strSQL in DLookup

You sound surprised....
I'm not the Essex troll if you were wondering.
My version also allows you to paste the SQL into a query.

Where I do disagree with you is mainly using inbound forms.
As...

Re: strSQL in DLookup

Nobody is suggesting that VBA code should be avoided where it is needed.
There are many occasions where a query can't do the job.
However if a query can do so, it should be faster/more efficient...

Re: Delete Record but archive

June's answer just spelled out why I bitterly regretted hiving off archived records many years ago

In a large schools database, I decided to store records for student leavers which until then had...

Re: Hide Password in Input Box

Really!?!

I just tried the code again & still can't get it to work
I do have the extra complication of having to use conditional formatting to get declarations to work on 32-bit & 64-bit.
But...

Re: Notify When Question Is Answer

It may take a while but I expect Jon or Vassago will answer a PM at some point.
It won't help you, but it took several weeks before the issue was fixed for me & several others around this time last...

Re: Trouble with conditional formatting

Just combine them like this

if DLookUp("[Department]","[tblUsers]","[UserTag]='" & [txtUser] & "'")=2 And [RDReview]=1 And [ProductionReview]=1 And [MaintenanceReview]=1 And [SafetyReview]=1 And...

Re: Delete Record but archive

June's answer implies keeping the records in the same table with a Boolean field e.g Archived set to true for those records. I agree.

Do NOT transfer the records or copy them to another table. It...

Re: Trouble with conditional formatting

You can easily do this in code

if DLookUp("[Department]","[tblUsers]","[UserTag]='" & [txtUser] & "'")=2 Then
Me.othertextboxname.Enabled=True
End If

Use this code in a suitable procedure...

Re: Date Query

Sorry I was away from my computer all day & unable to check the code I had suggested
Static's solution uses a subquery and as you say it works perfectly

The subquery part gets the first record in...

Re: Overwrite data in table

Sorry but that makes little sense.
First of all you only need one form
In standard or edit mode, you can edit existing records
Or in add mode, you add a new record which can later be edited if...

However I didn't know it could refer to the pipe symbol

Thought I'd look up other names for backslash:

Then of course we...

Re: Combo box issue

NO! The control source must be the field name which is CorpsYear

Also it had 2 columns before - so the row source should now be
SELECT YearCorps.ID, YearCorps.CorpsYear FROM YearCorps;

That...

Re: Combo box issue

You presumably tried to use Year as your field name which is reserved as it is a function name. Try CorpsYear or something meaningful.

Do not use special characters like () in table or field...

Re: Combo box issue

In your first post, you have a field with the same name as your table.
