Re: SendKeys problem w/Win10

I agree that sendkeys is probably best avoided. I don't trust F1 either. I read somewhere not too long ago that anyone who attempts to use F1 to direct to their own Help gets over-ridden by M$ -...

Re: SendKeys problem w/Win10

Did you look first? There's tons of posts saying it is no longer supported - some of which at least say why. It's apparently a security issue.

Or are you including the possibility if you use a...

Re: ADO connection

just as an fyi, do some research on ADO vs DAO and watch out for old posts. At one point M$ was going to stop developing DAO so I suspect many panicked and started developing in ADO. Guess what? M$...

Re: Unbound Form "RunTime Error 3134"

My point is we shouldn't have to. If I'm in one of my moods and there's (e.g.) 100 lines of code and no code tags or an error number with no description, I just move on.

Re: refresh with code after update

Be it the form AfterUpdate event or a control AfterUpdate, how do you cancel this update? The whole premise of After update is that the event fires after the control or form is updated. There is no...

Re: Unbound Form "RunTime Error 3134"

See? I didn't remember it correctly after all. Seems I can't recall it 20 minutes later, either.:o

Re: Unbound Form "RunTime Error 3134"

syntax error in sql statement. I had to look it up because wouldn't you know, it's the only number I couldn't remember...;)
Wish so many people wouldn't assume we know what all of the numbers mean....

Re: refresh with code after update

If you want to prevent duplicate data and can't simply prevent it by having a unique index or primary key on a particular field, then the time to detect that a value would be a dupe is BeforeUpdate,...

Re: Unbound Form "RunTime Error 3134"

In this situation, always debug.print the sql statement, copy from immediate window, paste into new query sql view and a) switch to datasheet view (which won't attempt to run it) or b) try to run it....

Re: Can I link photos stored on Office 365 (OneDrive, etc.) with an Access Database?

On a home pc, One Drive is a subfolder of the user profile. An image control will display an image with a path like C:\Users\Micron\OneDrive\Pictures...
Not sure where that leaves anyone in a...

Re: sub form as form view not datasheet

If by "subform" you mean the form and not the subform control, then it is possible. Subform view set to single form BUT allow datasheet view must be "no". I don't think that should have any effect on...

Re: Beginner trying to make a string of text appear with toggles

You can help us help you by using the correct terms and names. Maybe go into your form in design view and select your controls one by one and note what the property sheet calls them (you might have...

Re: SubForm Height

Interesting. Have never tried either of those, rather always clicked once to select then right clicked and chose "Open subform in new window" or whatever it says in the menu.

Re: SubForm Height

If you click on the detail, header or footer sections, you'll always activate them. As for the other, think of it this way: if you click on a textbox, you expect to activate it. Same goes for the...

Re: Can't Open Form

Nope, at least not if I recall correctly. Would you believe that was my next guess? I figured if you could open the form in design yet the break(s) did nothing, it had to be the form record source....

Re: Can't Open Form

Your post is not clear. What does "cannot run" mean? You can open it, yes? But you get an error message and the form doesn't open correctly? Or the form doesn't open at all but your code window opens...

Re: How to update to most recent set of data

Not much to go on so IMHO, comments can only be in general terms. If the sheets are guaranteed to be consistent in layout, that will help a lot. Whether or not you do a complete replacement of the...

Re: How to update to most recent set of data

Have to make this short: didn't look at your posted db but your situation is not all that uncommon IMHO. Where I worked, there was a copy of a huge production db that those with permissions were...

Re: Building Security system for Access Database

Never said that they would be. I DID say there was no mention that the distributed db was an accde, meaning more prone to meddling if not.

Re: Incorrect SQL Statement while using more than one criteria

If you want to add one WHERE criteria based on a combo, then you have to test for it having no selection. If not, don't concatenate. If yes, then do concatenate. However, I think there are issues...

Re: Runtime Error 2501- Getting annoying now.

FYI - there is another trap you can fall into that will result in this error:
- form1 code opens form2
- form2 code decides that form2 should not open thus the Open event is cancelled.
- execution...

Re: Building Security system for Access Database

Database properties can be manipulated from another database. I see no mention of making fe an accde so manipulating properties probably depends on the db not being an accde. I have never tried it on...

Re: Reliability Problems split FE/BE. A better Way?

Check out Citrix. As I mentioned, synchronizing may be possible if users are not modifying the same records. If they are, who uploads first?
