Re: Tricky query Criteria, between dates if textboxes are null

BTW It can sometimes be more readable to directly use the AND and OR facilities in the WHERE clause rather than nesting IIF()s.

Re: How to make default value disappear when clicked

This simple procedure selects the contents of the textbox when it is clicked on so that any typing will overwrite what is already in it.

Re: Sub query question

There are several ways but it really depends on how you want the data to be presented. The results could be one record with four fields or two records with three fields.

One alternative with the...

This little open source freeware program called WhatColor (http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Skrommel/index.html#WhatColor) shows a tool tip with the RGB values of the pixel under the cursor.

Re: Consolidating results on a query

A couple of issues here. Applying the Year function to every CStartD means retrieving and processing every record before the Select can be applied. It isn't very efficient.

Secondly, Having is...

Re: Consolidating results on a query

I had misread your intent.

However you might still consider having the 5 criteria stored in a table so that any change does not require changes to the code.

Re: Consolidating results on a query

FROM sub1
GROUP BY IIf([RecordCount]<5, "Other", [CourseName])

Re: Consolidating results on a query

The designation of Other is data and should be treated as such.

Rather than hard code the select, have the translation in a table. It could be as simple as having something like CourseTypeID...

In case anyone missed it, Chris's explanation of his condition is on this thread (https://access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=292800).

Re: Field Data Type Issue

For the sake of completeness I will mention another two techniques.

3. The schema.ini (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/odbc/microsoft/schema-ini-file-text-file-driver) file.

4. Read and...

Re: Who originally designed MS Access and What happened to the initial core team?

I have always assumed it was a very different team. Access tables have "fields" while SQL has "columns". But maybe that was because the later SQL Server followed the wider already established...

If I remember correctly, a scope-unspecified Sub in an Object module is Private by default and Public in a Standard Module.

Re: If.... Then procedure not working.

Concatenation with the + introduces Null propagation. If either side is Null then the result is Null.

"A" & Null = "A"

"A" + Null = Null

It can be useful for optionally concatenating a...

That is not correct. Null can be assigned as the Value of a control or field.

I still believe my previous post probably identified the real problem.
