Re: strDocName Error

I think this might boil down to one's concept of what the Where clause is and what it does - at least it has become that IMHO. By definition, it specifies criteria that field values must meet for the...

Re: strDocName Error

A little supporting info would help. What is the value of TempVars!Test? Null, empty string or some value? What was the result of that statement test?

Re: strDocName Error

Do you have an example of that; specifically how you would use Null in a Where clause? In my experience, if you put =Null in a query design you will get nothing because as we agree, null is not equal...

Re: strDocName Error

You're not telling me anything that I don't already know.
Maybe this is all just semantics, but I'm not going to agree that "Null is equivalent to "Not True"" because Null is not equal to...

Re: Change Singe Corner Rounded to Left?

Ya learn something new every day! Never used that in all these years.

There are 8 options on the ribbon, plus the default which I suppose would not be shown, which would make 9. There are 10...

Re: Change Singe Corner Rounded to Left?

Maybe post a pic or 2 - what you have and maybe what you want, because I have no clue what you're referring to - especially since you posted in the Forms part of the forum.

Re: VBA DoCmd.TransferText add file name to field in table

I see no code there for updating the table after the import. Execute an update query or sql in code, or open a recordset on the table and update that. You seem to be missing a slash between the user...

Re: strDocName Error

Not that I ever said "no text of a Null will ever return true" because I have no idea what that means. I've never heard of "a text of a Null" but as for the rest, did you test?

?6<>5 and 3=null...

Re: strDocName Error

Only half true. Since you can't compare anything to Null, the result of the expression can only be Null, not false. Your empty string can work for <> comparisons, but never for = and be true, thus...

Re: strDocName Error

"It" certainly can. In my experience the issue is almost always not constructing an expression in a manner that is conducive to how the logic is processed by computer. Not so much when dealing with...

Re: sqL or Query?!!

I'm confused by your post.
- At one point it seems like you have a combo for nation but then you describe it as a list box.
- Then you mention a click event but post code for after update event. ...

Re: Access vba to edit header in word

I can't see anything wrong but then I'm not a Word automation expert. It would have been better if there was enough code to verify that declarations and references are accurate. I have been able to...

Re: Comments on Determining If A db Is Open

I sure hope I didn't start something. The context of the original post was where an Excel user was opening an Access db via Automation to preview reports. Presumably they would print it or do...

Re: Appending Table with a Picture

We've been less help than normal because it's not something we'd find ourselves needing to do. Having said that, I Googled and oddly enough, it appears to be doable via code. The code samples or...

Re: Comments on Determining If A db Is Open

to whom it may concern:
I've had to park this and the thread in code repository about randomizing data until things slow down a bit. You might see me peeking in on not-so-complicated issues but not...

Re: How to remove one row/record in a continuous subform

You did a work around, but there is a more "proper" way. If you get the parameter prompt when opening a query in code, you can go to the query property sheet and define the parameter there. That...

Re: Appending Table with a Picture

You shouldn't store attachments in Access tables - too many issues and the file size can quickly reach the limit. Better to have a text field that stores the file path and use something like...

Re: Printing with Print Preview

this is what I was alluding to, although I admit I was looking at the forest and not seeing the trees. The ribbon seems to be the obvious choice - unless for some reason you need to open the report...

Re: How to remove one row/record in a continuous subform

the other suggestion may work if your checkbox is bound - which I wondered about but still don't know. If you're getting a parameter prompt when trying to run an action query from a form, you...

Re: Printing with Print Preview

What I think this means is being able to open a report, view it then get a print dialog when you go to print it.

I think to get both a preview and a print dialog you'll have to put a button on...

Re: The pitfalls of VBA proficiency

NG I think we're a bit alike in that respect. I seem to gravitate to code for a few reasons

- I find the whole object model challenging and strive to be more familiar with it
- I haven't mastered...

Re: How to remove one row/record in a continuous subform

I'm not 100% clear on which aspects are running OK and which are not, and what is linked to what. You show the delete sql but don't clearly state if that is QryRemoveOtherInv, and is that the table...

Re: Save-As on accdb file Open
