Ah, a dabbler in Common Business Oriented Language... perhaps you've heard this one:
A man built a career as an ace COBOL programmer. Wisely invested his money, but got sick. He had himself frozen with a detailed description of his ills, hoping that one day in the future his disease could be cured. And time passed... time that he never felt passing.
He awoke in a bright, clean, shiny medical facility. The clothing and equipment were all ultra-modern, far beyond what he had seen when he "chilled out." The doctor waited until he was clear-headed and then said, "Ah, we are so glad to see that you have awakened. We decided we needed to get you up even though normal policy is to let the sleepers sleep. But we need your skills."
The man replied, "But I'm just a programmer from the 20th century. What skills could I have that you need?"
The doctor replied, "Well, we saw you were a COBOL programmer. We have some legacy software and we are really concerned about a Y10K problem..."
