Good evening all,

I am very new to access, could someone provide a simple step by step to help me with the following:

I currently have a basic form and subform (table) which is filtered by a drop down box. I would like to add further filters however such as type of incident, date etc.

I would also like the information to be displayed in a further subform by way of a graph.

Is this possible? If so could someone offer a simple guide please?

Thank you

Tell us about your database -what is its purpose? What tables do you have?
What sort of business does it support?
Readers need some context in order to answer you post.

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply.

My database holds information about vandalism against our company property.

The main Events table has fields such as

ID - Location - Type of Incident - Date - Time - Reference Numbers - Tags Used

I also have tables for the types of incidents and the locations of our properties.

I would like to be able to filter a subform based on variables such as, Location, Type of Incident, Date Ranges and Tags used. I would also like it so if i selected just one filter the results would display, or i could select all of the filters to show a much more precise range of information, preferably in a table/database type format.

However if this could also be displayed within a graph/chart above or below the info that would also be extremely helpful (but not a must)

Fields for the graph could simply be number of incidents per location selected or breakdown of incidents per location/date selected.

Thank you again

I would have a read and download of this excellent search form example by Allen Browne http://allenbrowne.com/ser-62.html

Whilst there isn't a graph, the results could be used to provide the data to populate one. Baby steps. Get the search working first. Them make it look pretty.

More details about your tables would be helpful.
Also some sample data (even if you mock up some test data) to help us understand your incidents, reference numbers, tags etc.)
Getting you tables and relationships designed and tested is a critical step before getting into forms, subforms.

Here is a draft model that has similar concept.
In this case the model represents Vehicles involved in Incidents.
I hope it is helpful.

I should also point out that a form is much like a window onto/into a Table.
With database, getting your tables and relationships designed and tested is key.
