Which tablet do you recommed?

Hi,

I am thinking of ditching the laptop and getting a tablet. Briefly looked at the new Nexus 7.

Do you have any recommendations?

Few pointers

I intend to use it for personal and business use. Doing Access databases, using Excel, Word, Outlook etc.. Using photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver now and then. Surfing web. Performing SEO tasks on websites, using Flash.
I don't want an Apple product

Ideally dont want to spend more than 200-250 on one.

Also would I be best just using a laptop?

Re: Which tablet do you recommed?

If youre planning to use Access, might be an idea to go with Win Surface (x86 version)

Using Access on Android or iOS is going to give you lots of problems, different instruction sets, different platforms, non compatible technology.

Might be an idea to look at these threads regarding Access on Android

Re: Which tablet do you recommed?

It's funny, my friend recently texted me with a query:

"The accelerometer in my iPad has ceased to function. What do you think, new iPad2 or new iPad3?" She's a young professional who doesn't even use the iPad for work. She already owns a laptop and a TV (and an iPhone). I said, "Neither. It's silly for you to own an iPad." She definitely doesn't travel enough to justify it, either.

She would never have even gotten the iPad were it not for the fact that it was a gift. But now she's used to having it. She swears by it. I still insist it's a gimmick--a great little piece of tech, with very little practical application for someone in her demographic. I think tablets should be used for travelling professionals who are tech savvy. Use them for presentations, easy document sharing, and the like. These are things you can do on your computer, but the tablet is more portable, more user friendly, etc. Why take a hit on performance just for portability when portability isn't a deal-breaker?

It strikes me as absurd that people put so much money into tech such as that for the ability to play games or access the internet on the go. These are capabilities that already exist in less expensive (and more compact) technology.

I have a Nexus 7 and I am perfectly happy with it. Nevertheless, I would not recommend it for the uses you indicated. Best to use a laptop.

Re: Which tablet do you recommed?

We had a lot of problems with Surface Pros at work.

Have a look at the Lenovo Yoga. It is a laptop that converts to a tablet by folding the keyboard behind the screen. The keys retract in this configuration.

Best of both worlds.
