What happens when we hard reset a computer system by holding the power button for a few more seconds? I need your precious comments on both Software and Hardware perspective...
My newly bought refurbished laptop with a windows 8.1 hung due to a non responding Internet Explorer Window. Thought of running my laptop without a cold boot for its lifetime. All spoiled
What happens normally when we cold boot?

Nothing untoward should happen. You might lose any unsaved data, but a laptop is designed to be shut down and restarted, it's not a 24/7 Server which isn't designed to be rebooted frequently.

I never heard that term "cold boot". Many people call it a "hard boot" or "hard shut down". It should be avoided on new computers if possible.
