Hi Guys,

Im sort of new to access and would really appreciate some help in setting up a criteria for a query.

What I am trying to achieve is basically a search function that returns the results in a form, all of which I have achieved. However in the "criteria" section of the field I want to search I put Like [What Equipment] & "*" Or Like "*" & [What Equipment] it only picks up the first two words in the sentence.

What criteria do I need to input so that I can put whatever I want in the little popup box and it will search every word in the sentence and return all results with that word in the sentence.

eg. I want to find every record of "Fox" in "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog"

I hope that made sense.

Many thanks

Paul

You need * on both sides of the criteria?

Just combine them: Like "*" & [What Equipment] & "*"

However, searching for strings in a large number of records using both wildcards may be very slow

Thank you gentlemen, that sorted it! Happy bunny :)

Feel a bit daft as the solution was so simple but thats learning I suppose.
