Simply SQL by Rudy Limeback is a good book for SQL - not Access specific.

Try
"Access Data Analysis Cookbook", O'Reilly, Ken Bluttman & Wayne S. Freeze

This isn't all SQL but it spends a couple of chapters and does a good job of explaining certain concepts.

An interesting beginner's book which is not Access syntax specific is:
"Head First SQL", O'Reilly, Lynn Beighley

The book has a unique presentation style which includes good graphics.

My favorite book for learning VBA is:
"Access Cookbook, 2nd Edition", O, Reilly, Ken Getz, Paul Litwin & Andy Baron.
This book started out with "recipes" for solving problems that early editions of Access couldn't handle. It was expanded in the second addition with new recipes added and old recipes dropped when Access integrated solutions. The book has not been updated since 2004 so the graphics are a little dated but since VBA hasn't changed much over time, it is still a very useful learning tool.
