Hi folks,

I have a friend with a PlayStation2. He just got DSL and wanted to hook
up the PlayStation2. There is no computer involved here.

During the setup phase, all is OK and tests successfully. But when he
starts to play, he gets an error message that says:

"Unable to connect, please disconnect the firewall."

What does this message mean? And how does one disconnect the
firewall on a playstation? I think the message means something else.

Any help appreciated.

How is he connecting to the internet? directly to modem? through a router? Is it possible the router has a firewall?

Thanks for the reply Stephen. He has the PlatStation directly connected
to the DSL modem. It turns out that the vendor can disable the modem's
firewall from their site.

Thanks again,
Wayne

One last note. Contrary to the error message, it is not a problem with
the firewall. One has to go into Internet Explorer, visit a web-site and
change the modem from a "routed bridge" to "bridge".
