"File not found error" in compiler.... (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I'm currently working on a major database, and it is near completion.
Today, while adding a new form, with a few buttons and a couple of docmd.openform commands, I received a "file not found" error while trying to rename it.

now this has spread like a virus to the rest of my database. I can't even compile it.

There is no file listed, and no line of code highlighted, just "file not found"

Facing the potential of having to export around 200 items and 3800 lines of code I'm at the end of my wit.

any idea what the cause is?

I have done all the usual things that seem to resolve errors, like a reboot, and pulling the laptop battery for 30 sec.

i have tried compact and repair (set this to do so on close in all my databases)

I also have a password set and the code locked for viewing in the VBA editor.

removing this has not helped.

any hints will be appreciated. This is a week's holiday leave (AKA hard work) down the drain otherwise.

Have come to a compromise, just spent the last hour exporting 200 odd tables, forms, queries, reports and modules to a clean database - all appears ok now, but it's midnight and I'm seriously over it.

I'll test more later and report back for anyone who sees this post.

FYI, it takes minutes to *import* into a new db: http://www.btabdevelopment.com/ts/impnew rather than *export* to a new db.

Hmm, handy tip, shall remember that one. took me quite some time to export everything out one by one.
