My Access Web App includes an Employee table. I have a OnStartup macro that looks up the current user's e-mail address in the Employee table and stores the results in a variable. I use a messagebox to verify that the variable is set to a valid value.

I want to use this variable as a default value in a Datasheet view for the Employee auto complete field. However, it doesn't seem to work. Is there some special notation to reference a variable? If I hard-code a number as the control's default value, it works.

Hi,

I don't think it is possible to set default values for controls dynamically on views within Access 2013 web apps. You can set the value with macros, but not default values for new records only.
