I am trying to find a simpler solution
Then you should be using bound forms. If you are having trouble with them, perhaps gaining an understanding of the Access event model will help you.

Access is a RAD tool. If you are not using bound forms, you are eliminating the most useful and powerful feature of Access but you still have all the overhead and bad stuff. If you are not going to use bound forms, you should probably reconsider using Access as your development platform.
