Hi, we all know the Northwind sample database that MS offers.

Could we say that Northwind is a kind of ERP software?

For those who don't know or not sure what ERP is- I am one of those- I copy paste from Google

(What is ERP and how does it work?
This is called Enterprise Resource Planning, or ERP.
Normally ERP systems use the same database throughout an entire company to store various types of data
for different computerized functions. When first developed, ERP systems were used only for large
manufacturing companies.)

My question,
Is ERP one specific software or
different software developers, make their own system which call ERP?
(as we call spreadsheet programs that look like excel)

Is a database, like MS Access, a tool that, at the end of a day , stores data and enables users to develop additional functions that end up to be an alternative ERP?

Yes, access is an ERP, and you can customize it the way you need, Quickly.

Thanks Ranman256, so, when I see ERP it is not just one specific software,
There are many different softwares, ERP oriented.
Same like a "spreadsheet", spreadsheet is not only excel although excel is the prominent one.

I see some classified advertisements about job vacancies, they ask ERP knowledge
and I would like to know if the refer to just one specific program (e.g. excel) or general ERP (spreadsheet).

Thanks for your input.

Most companies regardless of industry use an*ERP software. It’s hard to imagine the day-to-day activities without one. I can’t imagine doing things otherwise.
