Date field has incorrect entry

I mistakenly did not enter a date into thousands of records and so now in MySQL they display those dates as --

There is an option on the web site php page to remove all dates records by entering just the year, but it does not delete them if I enter --

Can anyone help please?

My grandad is very poorly in hospital and so I can't ask him and I know very little about MySQL or php.

Re: Date field has incorrect entry

Not sure how Access will read dates with values -- so the following may not work
Assuming the MySQL table is linked to an Access database, try running an update query to replace all instances of -- with Null

Otherwise try something similar in MySQL itself

Re: Date field has incorrect entry

Thanks Colin.

I feel such a fool as my grandad's program has nothing to do with Access as its just MySQL with php for the web site and I will try the MySQL forum after trying out your MySQL suggestion if I can figure it out.

So I'm sorry for wasting everyone's time.

Re: Date field has incorrect entry

No problem
I've moved it to the MySQL section of the forum but that's little used.
A specialist forum might indeed be better if my suggestion is no use

No chance of rolling back to a backup?
