There are ways of solving this. Easy for an MDB file but much harder for an ACCDB.
However, as we've no way of knowing whether you have the ownership rights to the file, nobody here will (I hope!) explain how you do it.

If you can't remember it, you may need to pay a specialist company to remove/replace the password....but you'll still need to prove ownership.

Normally you would provide proof of purchase or similar
If you wrote it yourself, that won't apply so you would need to provide some evidence that would satisfy the company doing the job.
The company I'm thinking of is called EverythingAccess though there may be others.
However it will be expensive so I suggest you search your memory thoroughly first.

hopefully you get it back, but there is no real need to password protect a database.

Keep your database in an unprotected state, but compile the database to an mde/accde and release the mde/accde to users. No code for them to look at.

Hi Dave
Whilst you're obviously right with respect to the code, using a password on the FE does help reduce the risk of unauthorised users getting access to the data from the FE.
With regard to the BE itself, I would say that a password is essential otherwise anyone can read the data using a text editor. See this article on my website:
