I'll re-iterate my gratitude for you taking the time to look at this with me.

Thank you.
Ah, okay, that's three places on that could be stepping over each other.

  1. The Data Entry = Yes setting is sending the form to the new record, and
  2. The Open event macro is also sending the form to the new record, now
  3. This macro used to open the form is telling Access to open the form in "Add" mode, which also sends the form to a new record.
What happens if you changed "Add" to "Edit" just as a test? Would the form still disappear?

By the way, we'll probably eventually run out of ideas unless we can see a sample copy of your db. You should be able to remove all sensitive information about it and simply replace them with dummy and innocuous stuff. Just food for thought...

Does the same thing on edit. I will work on that this weekend and hopefully post something substantive for you to look at.

I think that's where I'm at now. If it can't be, then I wish you luck and hope to see a solution posted.
A link was provided that would allow you to randomize data for privacy...

Thank you both for your time. In a way, you both helped resolve this.

I recreated the form from the existing form and only added the original 'add' macro.

Seems to be working well enough for the end user anyhow and that's what matters.
