The news media and political spokesmen make the outrageous claims that our Political Advertisement this election (2016) are the most vicious and worst in US history.
They are just too lazy to pick up a history book. Today's political advertisements are so politically correct, they are not effective.

If Thomas Jefferson wins - murder, ra** ... will be openly taught and practiced!
Even King George is involved in a drive-by accusation.
And that is just for openers.

Trashing the opposition is an old, proud American Tradition.
The accusations continued right up until the election.
One Jefferson supporter likened Adams to a “hideous hermaphroditical character, which has neither the force and firmness of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman.”
Adams’ supporters countered with a leaflet calling Jefferson, “a mean-spirited, low-lived fellow, the son of a half-breed Indian squaw, sired by a Virginia mulatto father.”
Jefferson’s camp claimed the president reportedly planned to smuggle London prostitutes across the Atlantic to satiate his sinful tastes.

The campaign ended in strange fashion, as Jefferson and his running mate, Aaron Burr, tied in the electoral vote. The House of Representatives was forced to decide the election, although it took an entire week — and 36 separate votes — before the House chose Jefferson as the third U.S. president.

Mark Twain's famous comment about lies left out a category. He said, "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics." He should have added, "and to top them all, there are political statements made during an election."
