I am working in Windows 10. I am wanting to set a default view for NEW folders as LIST view, DESCENDING sort without affecting existing folders. I asked for some help, but the "know-it-all" in my office ended up applying this view to my entire folder structure before I could stop him. "Oh, I thought that's what you wanted." NO! I have many folders that I want sorted ascending, but I just want the default to be descending. And to do the sort, he moved everything to DETAILS view. Now, I have to go through 100s of folders to get them back the way I want.

So, now I'm gun shy and need some guidance on getting this done the way I want, without screwing everything up again.

Thanks for help with this very elementary issue.

I hate all these 'decisions' Windows makes for you. I wish I could shut most of it off. Thanks for the info.

All I want is a default for new folders, and nothing else. Windows, it appears, cannot give me that.
