Hi

I have an Application based on Access database but it is too slow. If I switch it SQL database, does it improve the speed? Can I have only SQL database or does it keep the Access Database and creates a SQL version and keep data in both? Thank you

If it speeds things up very much depends on how many users you have and how far away your SAN compared to your SQL Database server is.

It is likely that if it is a single database on your own machine SQL Database will not speed things up.

It should be noted that there is quite a lot of optimisation that is sometimes needed to get it working quickly with SQL Database so you can be in a situation whereby initially it is slower to go to SQL Database and then speeds up when you optimise the configuration and queries.

I have changed it to SQL and it is a little bit better. Basically, the database is on DB server and application on App server and there are 5 users.
I think that I have to work on optimising the queries now:rolleyes:

Thank you
