Question Which forum site is the AWF of Web Design? Which Web Host is the best?

Good Day fellow "Access people"...

I'm looking for two recommendations. I realize there's no "single right answer" but I'll check out any suggestions you can make (and I'll report back to this thread on what worked out for me, and why!)

1. Which Web-Design forum is the best? (For all experience levels but especially newbie!)

2. Which web-hosting company is the best?
Affordability is very important at this point - but I would also like to be able to run scripts, and post static html pages if I like -- two features which I was surprised aren't standard on all hosts. (For example I was experimenting with an imgmap that pops-up different pictures based on where the mouse hovers... but 3 hosts in a row don't allow that type of script.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Re: Which forum site is the AWF of Web Design? Which Web Host is the best?

1. I haven't been there in a while, but the one I did go to was sitepoint (https://www.sitepoint.com/community/). Of course, when I want to learn something new I usually start at W3 (https://www.w3schools.com/). And when I google specific issues I always choose the result that points to stackoverflow.

2. I've used bizland (http://bizland.com/) for over 20 years (Holy shit I and the web got old). However, the specific issue you mentioned, doesn't sound like a server issues. What you want to accomplish sounds very javascripty. That code is run on the browser, not the server so it shouldn't matter what host you have. In fact, you shouldn't even need a host--if you write an .htm on your local computer and ran it that type of code should function.

Great, that's just the kind of info I'm looking for!

The Wayback Machine is fun for Internet flashbacks! (I was just thinking back to my first search engine, Altavista...)

For some reason I don't understand, some hosts like Google Pages don't allow stuff like:

Thanks again for the suggestions, I've bookmarked them all.

Anyone else? More please!
