Re: Can the Reputation comments be read?

Hi

I can see my reputation points (RP) but am unable to see any connection between reputation comments and points added.

Sometimes someone clicks the scales & points go up but other times no change in points even when the comment is really positive (or presumably negative)

I'd be grateful if someone could explain this as
a) I'd like to ensure that when I click the scales for another forum member it does affect their RPs
b) Being selfish, I'd like to get more for myself when users are being complimentary

Anyone able to explain...

Re: Can the Reputation comments be read?

One time I gave someone a positive review, and I actually noticed them seeing another Green rectangle. Other than that it is a mystery to me.
Maybe if its negative, it is a coffin instead of a rectangle? LOL

TEST:
I just added to Ridders reputation. He has 1 green rectangle.
Can others do the same, click the scales and add to his reputation.
Then post so we can get a Count. See what happens.

Re: Can the Reputation comments be read?

Thanks very much, though I wasn't trying to 'fish' for compliments
You have indeed increased the points

I've now done the some in reverse.
Hopefully it also increased yours

Re: Can the Reputation comments be read?

I think the Rep is a sliding scale ? I noticed I went up one green dot at about 100 rep points ? Weirdly the text that appears when you hover over the dots changes without the number of dots always changing...

Fair enough as I don't remember ever having responded to one of your posts!
I've amended my post accordingly

Re: Can the Reputation comments be read?

Speaking of reputation points, from the screen it appears that I have six and so does MarkK - but when I hover the mouse over the dots, mine says I am "a name known to all" while MarkK is "a glorious beacon of light." Different messages but we both show six green dots. Am I missing something here?

Re: Can the Reputation comments be read?

It would probably take an admin (Vassago or Jon) to give you the levels where the text changes, but you have different points in "reputation level", which I assume is what the dots are based on (you have more!).

Re: Can the Reputation comments be read?

Thanks for the list
I think I was right when I described the statements as a bit 'twee' in this post

https://www.access-programmers.co.uk...24&postcount=1

Could you also clarify exactly how many points trigger each extra green blob
I know how many RPs I have, but not when I get another blob.

Two more related questions - I know you can't keep giving RPs to the same person and why ...
BUT I keep being thwarted when trying to re-award RPs several months later

So ...
a) roughly how long do you have to wait before doing so again
b) is it possible to view a list of those to whom I have previously awarded RPs

Re: Can the Reputation comments be read?

Guess I don't have to worry about getting that highest level. My repute has been "ill" for some time, I'm sure.

Re: Can the Reputation comments be read?

I've noticed that they reps aren't always green - even if the comment is obviously helpful?
Can I get an extra house point ?
