I inherited a report with 7 levels of sorted footer grouping; all kinds of sums are involved; no detail section.

Group 5 footer displays several fields.

I need to sort on two fields in that section.

I've built a combine field on those two fields to add to grouping and, of course, it creates another group of sums.

Example, What I have
Header
Category Description
Detail
(Nothing)
Footer1
Various Sums
Footer2
Various Sums of Sums
Footer3
Various Sums of Sumsof Sums
Footer4
Various Sums of Sumsof Sums of Sums
Footer5
Field1 Field2 (Sorted & Grouped by Field1, Field 2 is unordered)
Footer6
Sums related to Fields1&2
Footer7
Other Calculations

What I want
Header
Category Description
Detail
(Nothing)
Footer1
Various Sums
Footer2
Various Sums of Sums
Footer3
Various Sums of Sumsof Sums
Footer4
Various Sums of Sumsof Sums of Sums
Footer5
Field1 Field2 (Sorted & Grouped by Field1, with Field 2 sorted within the group)
Footer6
Sums related to Fields1&2
Footer7
Other Calculations

How to I get Field 2 of Footer5 sorted? How do I sort within a group?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello:

Open up your report in design view. On the view menu select View, Sorting and Grouping. On the sorting and grouping form select the appropriate values.

I've already got seven.

I think the answer might be introducing an additional group, but deleting the fields in it's section.

Than you for your prompt reply.

I did what I described in my immediately preceding post. However, I had to combine two fields, a name and account number, and grouped on that. Spagetti for sure.
