Hi,

I have 4 reports in my database which do not open when opened in report view. The queries the reports are based on have been updated but it was just the change of a field in one table to a field in another and the query works perfectly when run alone. The reports worked fine previously so I'm struggling to see what the problem is.

Previously, when strange things have happened, I have deleted the old reports/forms and started again. I did this and they worked fine, for a while.

I have a split, multi user database where users access the database via a .exe file. I have a copy of the front end database I use for updates and developments so I can just save over the .exe file when ready. I did this once the update was done but the reports have stopped opening in report view again.

The pop up property was set to yes and modal set to no so I changed these to set pop up to no and modal to yes. They do appear in report view when the modal property is set to yes and pop up set to no but then they appear behind all the homepage and reporting forms I have when the report opens (all the forms are pop up). I have also compared these 4 reports with all the other reports in my database and can't see anything different that could be causing the problem. All other reports are also set to pop up yes and they are all fine.

I use two monitors and I have seen on other threads that this could cause an issue. However, when set to modal the reports open in the same place and are clearly visible on screen.

Is there something I'm missing?

I can't attach a copy of the database as it has live data but if I need to add any screen shots, please let me know.

Hoping someone can help.
Allison

Update: I have asked colleagues to open the reports. It works for one of them, who also has two screens, but doesn't work for the other colleague who only has one screen.

We just need enough to see the issue with explicit instructions on how to recreate.
You can use the code in this thread https://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/threads/randomizing-data-for-posted-dbs.306745/ to obfuscate your data.

I am going to guess that it is opening on the second screen. I have had outlook do that in the past as my second screen was not switched on.
Give the poor user a second screen for 30 minutes. Easiest/simplest way to test.?

Thanks @Gasman, the code for randomising data worked perfectly. Here's a copy of my DB. I have had to remove quite a few forms, reports and queries as the front end file is too large but hopefully you'll still be able to take a look at the relevant section. In the front end file 'CRT Support Database' if you go to the ReportsListF and open it, select the Member Support Provided - By Organisation report, add in a date range and click Run Report, it doesn't open. One of the other reports which does open is Local Insight Reports. I have checked all settings between these reports and they are all the same. One of the 4 reports I'm having trouble with is Non Member Support Provided - By Task but this has the modal property set to yes and opens behind the reports form.

Just regarding the issue of using 2 screens, the reports that actually open do show up on my other screen but they are clearly visible. If this is the problem, and the specific reports that won't open are hidden off screen, is there a way I can see them?

Bypass does not work?

For some strange reason I had to view the objects by date to see them? I always use object type.

Anyway, after opening report and saving, it opens for me.
I suspect it was trying to open on another monitor, which I do not have on this laptop.

That's strange, the bypass works fine for me and my objects are usually sorted by type.

I have opened it in design view and saved it and now it works! It's bizarre how when I did that after creating them and changing the settings several times yesterday, it didn't work. At least I'll know what to do in future.

Thanks for your help @Gasman :)

As I mentioned, when I had my works computer, I had 2 screens and used to open Outlook on the right one.Without that being on, Outlook was not available. I too was thinking it was not starting, but it was. :)
