Owned and ran a software development company from 1983. I quickly changed from Basic to dBASE II and then onto Clipper87, Clipper 5 etc. I first started using Access with Access97 in around 1998/9.
All of the work was database software for commerce and industry.
My area of expertise and where I spent many years was in engineering, in particular structural and steel fabrication where I was Production Director. Later, I also developed and supplied software for waste management companies, which became the major part of the business. With the engineering side becoming incidental. I eventually sold the business and retired.
Now just writing software for myself. Reading newspapers online is timewasting, so only allow 10mins/day. No Facebook, Twitter, or other social media accounts. An email and a telephone is enough for me.
If it's falling over...............just remember the computer is never wrong!
