My mom worked at a grocery store, and jerkwads used to come early and park in the handicapped spots even when the rest of the parking lot was empty. The manager used to meet them at the door and tell them no one would ring them up until they went out and moved their car. :D

As Kalel said, it is a heat register (where the forced air heat is blown into the room). Where I live it is common to have them in the floor. I suck at photo composition. :o F2O, that is a lovely cat. :)

I always use s/he when gender is known. Actually, even if I don't know I guess, rather than use "it". Funnily enough, I'll usually pick "he" for dogs and "she" for cats. ohphunk, those are lovely pics. :)
