Record Locking - Multi User Worklist type Database

Hi, having read your post, it seems that your problem is that sometimes, 2 users click on a button the exact (well, to the second) same moment? Can't you work around it, by creating another temp table on the backend where you store the same records but have some function check it for same...

    help on pause/sleep/etc.

Thx Larry, I will try your suggestion. It's just that I'm a bit scared of 'on timer'. Some time ago I was informed by some hightech guy (building his own hardware and software microchippies and stuff) that there were issues with on timer. Or maybe I'm mistaken and the 'strange stuff' only...

user access denied in Access 2000 Runtime

Can all users (without them being administrator) create and delete a test file in that directory? (A simple txt file will do to test) Maybe you can create another group and put the users in there. Then give that group modify rights for the neccessary directory. Permissions are 'build up' in 2...

    Fixing broken switchboards

I think it's because the installed printer is somehow saved in the report or database. I had some trouble in the past, when I 'migrated' a working db to another standalone computer with another printer. I had to open and save all reports to get ridd of the error. Btw, if anybody knows how to...

user access denied in Access 2000 Runtime

In the directory where you keep the access files, do all users have write permissions? (can they create a file?) Access wants to make a ldb file when it's running. If this is not the cause, can you describe your situation a bit different? I'm a bit confused about the users/computers/files :)

Record Locking - Multi User Worklist type Database

Have you looked at tools, options, advanced, default record locking? Sorry if this is not what you mean. About the also part, You mean like like checking to see if someone opens a record, but doesn't make a change? Sorry, it's quite late :)

    Duplicate autonumbers being generated

Do your users have homedirectories which reside on a server? About the autonr problem, I would read the help how record locking exactly works. Tools, options, advanced, default record locking. I noticed that in a db I have, it's default set to no locks. Then again, this is just a guess :)

    First Initial

You can use a query with an expression that combines the 2 colums. If you rightclick in a field, when designing a query, you can use the build option. In the build option, find the function you need, use & (to combine fields or expressions) and the other field At least, if you are using 2...

How to speed up/improve performance for international DB users

If you are in the Netherlands or Germany, what is your ping time to the server where the db resides? Maybe you can use replication, but I'm not sure if that will work for your situation. edit: I think Wisconsin is in the USA, maybe ask a user in Europe to do the pinging for you

Tearing my hair out - Security for end/back end database

When I read the following ------ Maybe this is where I have the problem?!? I can check this out, but it looks like it works. If I manually join the target wif and set a password for Admin all users need a password to get in. Are there any other tests to check security is fully functional...
