Re: Why ComboBox does not trigger Formīs dirty event?

Is it unbound? If so that's why, no data has changed in the record.

Re: Count Invoices

A simple grouped query will do this;

SELECT fldClient, Count(fldInvoice#) as NoOfInvoices
From YourTable
Group By fldClient

As a word of advice remove any special characters from your field...

Re: Variables

Comparing anything to Null is not going to give you the result you think it will ;
? 1 and Null
Null

I think I would substitute a value for the null and use that in your case statement;

Re: Where clause does not work

If both F01 and V01 (a date i assume? )are variables you'll need to concatenate them both - ideally into a string before using them, something like;

Dim strWhere as String

strWhere = F01 & " =...

Re: Usizing to Sql Server performance

To be honest it's not considered good design to open a form and load all the underlying records.

The normal route would be to load the form "empty" and to give the user some search features and...

Re: Bound forms with sql backend

You can't alter this behaviour with SQL server so, in your case simply force a save after the first field that isn't the ID is completed.

Put this in any field that the user might complete. The ID...

Re: Anything wrong with my table relationship design?

Welcome to AWF !

Looks okay at first glance to me, but your expense table isn't right.

You should probably have
ExpenseID
ExpDate
ExpenseType - This would indicate Building, Materials,...

Re: Bound forms with sql backend

You need to open the plus section next to the Identity Spec to get to the seed and increment properties.

From memory SQL populates the new record ID at the point of saving the record not on the...

Re: Pass-through query access with value from form textbox

That will work, and is nice and simple, as would the initial response I gave you, however if your data is held in SQL Server (depending on the version) you could turn on change tracking and it would...

Re: Pass-through query access with value from form textbox

That is a different query. That is only going to insert one field, and as written I'm pretty sure it would fail.
A pass through is simply a query or set of instructions, passed straight to the...

Re: Pass-through query access with value from form textbox

I think you would need something like

INSERT INTO Table1
SELECT *, GetDate() FROM Table2

To fill in the missing field in the target table. GetDate() is the Equivalent of Now() in Access.

Re: VBA Help

You can simplify each instance of

to simply

& " - " &

If you want to look a value up in an unrelated table you would need to use a DLookup(), possibly based on a...

Re: Question about database security

Use the inbuilt ability (Access 2007 onwards) to load a form at start up, and run the code from there that does everything. No Macro's required.

If the form isn't loaded you haven't connected...

Re: use a textbox as a resizeable and colourful checkbox

Very neat, thank you for posting it.

I fiddled around with Windings ages ago to look at a solution for this issue, but time evaporated and I forgot all about it.

Re: Access SQL Query -> T-SQL Query Conversion ?

@Vassago - I'm in agreement, it's simply the quantity involved that steered me in this direction.

If they want it updated, I would probably re-write it as a set of stored procedures. Most of them...

Re: Optimization

Re: Optimization

If you are using a shared front end from a network location that will be slow.
And probably lead to longer term issues, such as corruption.

Each user should have the FE Access db locally on their...

Re: Check the subform's field sum before update

NewValue possibly wasn't the brightest name for me to choose...

Me.YourIndividualValueField.NewValue might have been better....

That should work in the SubForms before update event

Re: Check the subform's field sum before update

If Me.NewValue + Me.YourCurrentSum >...
