Re: Delete query wont execute

George, I'll explain the background for what my colleagues just told you. Access has TWO potential environments. The SQL/Database Engine environment is where the Access user environment sends SQL...

Re: Adventures in Cable Cutting

After the USA FCC rescinded the "net neutrality" rules, prices were SURE to rise because in essence, the corporate pigs have unlimited rights to gouge you. Some of the price increases are starting...

Re: Hello from Waiuku in New Zealand

Ever since the Lord of the Rings trilogy shot in NZ, I've wanted to visit. That movie opened my eyes to the ecological diversity found there.

Welcome, Brett.

Re: Sharing a many side table with more than one one-side tables

Jack, please be aware that you inquired about an 11-year-old thread. I'm still here but I have not seen or heard from the original poster Banana in a long time. I don't recall his last post, but it...

Re: David

Oddly enough, David, you should know a LOT about shoveling since you have a government job. I was a contractor for the U.S. Navy until I retired and I understand just how deep it can get.

Re: Repeated Autonumber Gremlins

I've always heard this as "Experience is the ability to more quickly recognize your mistakes when you make them again" (attributed to author Ambrose Bierce.)

Re: Dealing with marked records and multiple users

In the database where I had over 35 users (varied to as many as 45 over a span of a few years) and as many as 10-15 users active simultaneously during prime shift, I used a junction table that others...

Re: Variables instead of controls?

As to the security aspects... Indeed, the U.S. Department of Defense can be a little ... how shall I say this... BLOODY FREAKIN' PARANOID about security. But if you (a) have your database behind a...

Re: Error in older Access after opening Access 2010

The problem you don't realize is that references are in the registry, not the app. So opening newer version of Access at least in theory could affect other databases. And it does not matter that...

Re: New member

Glad to have another member. Though many of us were self-taught, some of us were taught proper database techniques with another environment (in my case, ORACLE) and had to cross over to Access.

Re: Getting Data from one Table to complete in another

If you are both using the same data, you should first consider doing a database "split" so that you are both working on the same tables. Look up the topic "split a database" in this forum for...

Re: Dirty records and how to correctly save the formīs changes to the underlying quer

You've got a bunch of discussion. I'll just add to / corroborate what you've got, hopefully in a compact statement.

Two issues can trigger that 2046 (Save not available).

When you do the...

Re: Saved Queries vs SQL build on the fly

Diogo - if you want to know how big a stored query is (not counting the query plan), open the query in SQL view. You are looking at the query. That's it. The query plan is actually very simple. ...

Re: Relate one field to multiple fields

Just a technical comment: Having a situation where one (but not both) of two pointers is sometimes null is of no consequence to normalization unless there is a one-to-one relationship. As noted by...

Re: CREATE TABLE within VBA

Cronk, the easier solution for beginners is to make that secondary (empty) database and use a "launcher script" to just delete the current copy, then copy the secondary database to where you needed...

Re: Error in older Access after opening Access 2010

Good call, Micron. Might not be right but is a darned good guess.

FuzMic, opening an old DB with a newer version of Access automatically upconverts the file references. But then opening that...

Regarding binding a form to a table vs. query...

I cannot tell you why it happened, but this is a true story. I had a really complex front-end and a highly-normalized back-end. The FE contained...

Re: Create A Scraping Tool using VBA

If there is any way you could generate a report or get that tool to export a spreadsheet, you would do much better. Data scraping is in essence a problem in parsing. Reports and spreadsheet are...
