Re: Join statement not working

Define "doesn't work". Error message? No results? Unexpected results?

You might create a subquery on TblProvisionData and make a calculated field out of that expression. Then use that query...

Re: Join statement not working

LEFT JOIN TBLEmployeeMasterListing ON Left([TBLProvisionData]![UserDirectory],InStr([TbLProvisionData]![UserDirectory],"@")-1)=[TBLProvisionData]![NETWORK_ID]

This is not how JOINs work. After...

Re: Join statement not working

1. Each discrete piece of data must be stored by itself. Since you want to use the username seperate from the entire email, then you should store the email in 2 fields--one for the domain, one for...

Re: Date parameter with Date/Time values

Yes, extract just the date portion using DateValue (https://www.techonthenet.com/access/functions/date/datevalue.php). That way you only have to use one input.

Re: Create multiple records from one form based on quantity

A bound form directly interacts with tables. What you type in gets passed onto the table.
You don't want that. What you type in, you want to add to the table multiple times. To achieve this you...

Re: Count increment in query

Sounds like you want a running count of people by role. Something like:

Sally, Front Desk, 1
Dave, Food Prep, 1
Tim, Front Desk, 2
Larry, Front Desk, 3
Mary, Food Prep, 2

If so, search...

Re: Create multiple records from one form based on quantity

That sounds valid. The method I described in my first post would be the way to achieve it.

Re: Create multiple records from one form based on quantity

Yes, but it seems improper to add completely duplicated records to a database. Can you explain what this system is for and what you hope to accomplish with the duplicated records?

In a nutshell,...

Re: Omit duplicate entries from a count by query

If you don't know how to extract just the date/time part you need, you could post a question on this forum or use the functions on this page:

In...

Re: Omit duplicate entries from a count by query

First, your one tab is called 'Current Results'. I don't care about any attempt you have made thus far--I want some sample data from your table(s), then what you expect based on it.

Also, from...

Re: Query with 2 LEFT JOINS to different tables not bringing back what I want

Who does control how the tables are built? Perhaps you can ask them?

A lot of people seem to think their hands are tied and they are slaves to historical decisions beyond their control. This is...

Re: Query with 2 LEFT JOINS to different tables not bringing back what I want

I really think you should fix this before you start building atop it. That's not a correct table. You shouldn't store values in field names. Instead, you should store them in records. This will...

Re: Updating multiple related tables via form/subform

I would put encounter and biology data in the same table. However, its not wrong to put the biology data in its own table.

The relationship between Encounter and Biology is really a 1 -> 0/1...

Re: Updating multiple related tables via form/subform

If an encounter can entail more than one crocodile, then you haven't set up your tables correctly. You need one more.

First let's define some things, and seperate the idea of a Location from an...

Re: Updating multiple related tables via form/subform

CrocIds still in too many tables.

And I just don't understand how an Encounter record can have more than Biology record. Seems that's relationship is 1-1 which means all that data goes together...

It doesn't.

Nope, show me with data, not an explanation.

Put both sets of data (A&B) in a spreadsheet or post it in the forum like so:

tableNameHere
Field1Name, Field2Name, Field3Name, ...
Dave,...

Can you post sample data to demonstrate what you hope to achieve? Post 2 sets:

A. Starting data from your table(s). Include table and field names and enough data to cover all cases.

B. ...
