Re: Orlando Shootings

If so many in the US have such a lot of mental health problems it certainly needs to be dealt with.

However, if you have so many loonies running around, might not it be prudent to make guns just a...

Re: Are you an atheist?

There are definitely a lot of priests and nuns who made sure little children suffered.

Unfortunately most of them got away with it.

Re: Export to csv but change header column names

Access won't let you do it but will do it by itself under some circumstances. (Do as I say not as I do.;))

It happens where two tables are in a query and both have the same field names. If you...

Re: Queries in Access to Views in SQL Server

What version are you using. In my experience (up to A 2010) fields derived in a query cannot be used in the same query unless it is through a subquery.

Re: Deep South Deep Freeze

Yes. Lenny sat up in a corner at the first meet after his wife became pregnant with their first child. Just couldn't do it any more.

I recon it was big factor for Casey Stoner when he announced...

Re: Deep South Deep Freeze

My wife used to love the speedway there as a kid.

Her father used to build and ride outfits in Sydney with her brother as the swinger in the 60s and 70s.

We still have a centrefold from an old...

Re: Deep South Deep Freeze

I am a minimalist and prefer less wheels.

Moto GP is true motor racing. Just an engine and the practical minimum to make it stay on the road. Over 340 kph on the straights and leaning in to...

Re: Deep South Deep Freeze

Honda is one of the main F1 engine manufacturers. They threatened to pull out if F1 didn't become more commercially relevant to them. That drove the change in the rules.

Re: Variable Initialisation Best Practice

SQL Server condenses eight bit fields into one in the background.

You could use it as your back end then you would wouldn't have to feel like you were wasting storage.;)

Re: Variable Initialisation Best Practice

That isn't typically done. Normally you would have separate fields.

However if you really must, look into the use of Bitwise Operators. They use AND and OR (just like the Boolean combinations).

Re: Variable Initialisation Best Practice

VBA variables and field values are quite different things.

Nulls are fine in table fields. It wouldn't make sense to put a value in a field if you don't have a valid one because that would be...

Re: Are you an atheist?

I have gained a greater realisation of how much the principles of Abrahamic Monotheism underlay the problems of the world.

Some of this can certainly be attributed to what has been posted here,...

Re: Is Null or Is Not Null

Curious.

How is that different from:
[Finalized Date] Is Not Null

?

Re: Is Null or Is Not Null

In queries, rather than using the VBA IsNull() function it is more efficient to use the SQL expression Is Null.

Re: Update Query on part of a text field

BTW Developers often store the static part of the path separately and concatenate it to the rest of the path and filename as required. Then only that single record needs to change when paths change.
