Re: Powershell Commands through VBA

I agree with Micron, \\YourServer\Yourpath is much more reliable in the long term, unless you push out shares using a GPO or similar.

Nicely documented code ! :)

Re: Remove letter from text field

Assuming the numbers are always sequential and there is only one letter in front of them then

cLng(Right([YourScan], (len([YourScan])-1)))

Will change the string into the number you want.
You...

I'm not sure this isn't a typo

AddEventRecord

and

cal.AddEvent

?

Re: How to combine filters in VBA

I would have a look at the Allen Browne search example - it shows how to build a search form in a number of ways. http://allenbrowne.com/ser-62.html

His whole site is worth a good read !

Re: Hiding report elements in report view

Is the field is a calculated one , something like

ReportValue: [Field1] & "+" & [Field2] & "+" & [Field3]

?

Re: how to avoid generating sequential ID with before update event?

In a multi user environment as theDbGuy and Micron stated this is not actually very straightforward.

In fact unless you absolutely, positively, definitely HAVE to have it it's a real pain in the...

Re: how to avoid generating sequential ID with before update event?

This is so true;

I see so many posts about this. I appreciate that sometimes say invoice numbers etc. should run concurrently, but often "It's the law!" isn't actually true, and provided you can...

Re: Validation rule for NO spaces

As others have said, I suspect it was a cut and paste from something and it had a "special" character in it.

Copy the offending item into a proper text editor, and see if you can see it.

Re: Help with search filter.

Access isn't case sensitive normally. Are you sure you are getting the wrong results?

Re: Adding input from form to display in report?

This might sound daft , but it's much easier to find things by date ranges, than to sift through saved pdf's and keep opening them.

Storing the dates with the records won't have any noticeable...

Re: One Computer Problem

Can you post the code attached to the button.
We or you can possibly add some debugging to see why / where it fails ?

Re: Set default value of a field based upon another field

I would simply check for a new record in the forms current event, something like

This will only fire on a new record.

Edit - sorry I see Dave already suggested this.

Re: Remove record via selection from list box and button

Assuming your table has a Primary key the you could simply run a delete query on pressing the button. Something along the lines of

Dim sSql as Sstring

sSql = "DELETE * FROM Prep_List_Maker_Tbl...

Re: Normalization - Qs about junction tables and booleans.

If you ares simply storing repair details then a brand, type, serial number, colour would probably suffice.

Only record (e.g. have to enter) the data you need to achieve your task. Recording...

Re: 424 object required

I think you probably get that when the mail doesn't have an attachment, therefore that property for that object isn't available.

Try and test for it first?

Re: Normalization - Qs about junction tables and booleans.

Nope you are spot on with the above.

Again pretty good description of normalisation. The word commonly used is an Entity. and Entity type. Rather than having 3 fields called Male,Female &...

Re: Normalization - Qs about junction tables and booleans.

I'm assuming any bike can be many colours. Therefore to store the available colours for any given bike you would need a junction table storing the BikeID and the ColourID as Foreign keys. I would...

Re: Read external files

I got around this by listing all the files in a list box, and performing the action on the selected file.

I'm sure that without Windows API calls you can't get around it, as it's part of the...

Re: Using Inputbox date in Select statement

Re: Using Inputbox date in Select statement

Your report has a data source (probably a query), you should be able to go into the design of the report and open that just like a query to see the reports underlying data.

Re: Using Inputbox date in Select statement

Ditto the DBguy (Faster tying than me !)

Use a form to get the dates and then you use them in both the query and the report.

Re: Using Inputbox date in Select statement

You are missing closing brackets and your date formats are incorrect, try

WHERE (tbl_Bookings.Start_Date >= #' & Format(FiltStartDate, 'yyyy-mm-dd') & '#) And (tbl_Bookings.End_Date>=#' &...

Re: Unbound textbox in subform

In addition to Colin's excellent advice, why not simply have a PaidDate field, then you know when they paid or if they haven't in one field.

Re: If then statement in a query field

The syntax in the query designer is something along the line of;

MyCalcField: IIf([FieldA] = True, 0 , 99)

Where 0 is the true result and 99 is the false result.
You could replace 99 with...
