    Rational vs. irrational reporting

If you're asking me, no clue. I haven't seen the video of the crash. Whether they did or not, I think it was premature to blame DEI and by extension the controller. If that's what the evidence points to later, okay. And not just that the controller was at fault, but that they were a DEI hire...

    Rational vs. irrational reporting

Frankly I think Trump jumped the gun. I haven't paid close attention, but the reports I've heard said the air traffic controller advised the helicopter of the incoming jet, asked if they saw it, and told them to avoid it, apparently without response. The helicopter pilot had to know they were...

Failsafe ways to open Access and run a macro and close

I have a number of automated processes running. I had similar experience and used the same workaround, but for a number of years I've been able to just call the accdb/mdb directly. Not sure what changed or when.

    I'm thinking of moving

We get lots of earthquakes, but don't feel the vast majority of them. The ones we do feel are like "was that an earthquake?" The worst damage I've heard of is something falling off a cabinet or something. We do not live in fear of earthquakes here. ;) That said, it is a high-desert...

    I'm thinking of moving

I have in-laws that live in Redding. It can get pretty toasty there, though I'm not sure how it compares to AZ. Definitely gets into the 100s. I'd consider getting a little higher, either on the Sierra Nevada side or the Coast Range side. Maybe even north towards Shasta. The income taxes...

Combine and sum data from a form to a report

Whether you're showing lot ID or not, you're grouping on it. Why not take it out of the query?

    CopyObject or Make Table query

Probably the most efficient would be emptying and repopulating the local table with an append query. The real question is what purpose does the local table serve?

    Unimaginable Events in California

I would say this is the non-fire season, historically speaking. Summer is when we usually burn up out here.

FYI I merged the technical posts from the OP's intro thread here to keep them all in one place. It appears some answers preceded the first post here, so I'll move the original post there to here as well.

    Unimaginable Events in California

I saw video on the news that they are using air tankers that can refill their tanks by skimming across the water. They were refilling in the ocean, though to your point there wouldn't be any pumps involved in that process.

    Unimaginable Events in California

Good thought, but I don't think practical. It's not along the routes the water comes in from. Closest is the Colorado River Aqueduct, but I suspect they're already pulling as much as the can from that. Most of the rest is stolen piped from northern California, and the Salton Sea is to the...
