How to refer to objects in referenced db?

The simple way to expose classes in referenced databases - basically what I do with those in my Library database is in the database to be references add the code module below and run fClassMultiUse before before use. Can't remeber wherte the code came from but I've used it for years. I...

    Solved Passing form in OpenArgs

The OpenArgs parameter is text and has to be manipulated - obvious values such as number use default casts.

Solved SQL statement works in Access but not via ODBC

I know the solutions to this thread is to avoid UNION but it is worth pointing out that ODBC Drivers are notorious for not handling UNION. Test the usage against Access rear end, but to use against the target database use Pass through queries.

    How hard is C#?

According to Bill Gate C# is Visual Basic for snobs. He only had it created because IT professional demanded it. It's underlying engine is identical to VB.NET.

Mobile phones (Cell phones in US speak) and the 'Why don't you use the app?'

Don't apologise - I personally am delighted you did - it has been a fascinating cultural exchange lesson. Anyway the thread was under Water Cooler so it's the sort of way these discussion around the watercolour go in real life.

Mobile phones (Cell phones in US speak) and the 'Why don't you use the app?'

Two problems here - an item can more than one shelf price in UK(for instance if you are using a Loyalty Card) and in the USA, the shelf price is normally pre-tax so it's not what you pay at the till anyway (usage and tax rates vary by state).

Mobile phones (Cell phones in US speak) and the 'Why don't you use the app?'

Yours sounds excellent process to me. And that's where it all falls down for the USA and the UK. People just are not willing to engage in security. They just flash their contactless card and wander off. No idea what they have been actually charged and far worse, no interest. Indeed talking to...

Having driven round the Magic Roundabout many times I have to say it very easy to use.

Mobile phones (Cell phones in US speak) and the 'Why don't you use the app?'

Yes you do but sometimes vendors don't want to or try and just send electronic one. I don't stand for it. The actual law is that for £5 or more they have to offer one, and for less they have to give one if asked. The real surprise is those people who don't want one! The law applies...

Agreed. And I understand now about bills - to Brits they are notes.

Mobile phones (Cell phones in US speak) and the 'Why don't you use the app?'

Generally I accept all the things you describe as being of of value to you but they aren't to me. A random few comments from my point of view. I use a mobile phone because it is mobile and a phone! I expect above all things for my phone to function as phone. I have never stated I don't like...

Mobile phones (Cell phones in US speak) and the 'Why don't you use the app?'

I have enjoyed this thread and the various views aired - I agree with a lot of this post but with a significant BUT! The discussion even with fixed positions is not worthless - it's a discussion where we can evaluate the other side of the argument. In passing I think your throwaway "most...

The text file specification <name> does not exist. You cannot import, export, or link using the specification. (Error 3625)

Just a thought in passing before I look further - how many records are in the csv files? Are the ones that are failing bigger than the others? That would explain why a single import works and multi file exports don't as the processing needs a finite minimum time to reset.

The text file specification <name> does not exist. You cannot import, export, or link using the specification. (Error 3625)

"Also, thinking it may be the file structure content, if I just take the line that imports, pop that on a button and run, it is fine." Teaching grandmothers to suck eggs, I assume you have checked the detailed content of the failed records? And how are you deleting the Temp file?

Mobile phones (Cell phones in US speak) and the 'Why don't you use the app?'

In passing I think you are living in cloud cuckoo land about how easy it is to get into a mobile. I can go onto my local market and go to a stall that will unlock any phone in less than 5 minutes. I agree with the relative ease of getting into a PC but you've got to deliberately get into my...

Mobile phones (Cell phones in US speak) and the 'Why don't you use the app?'

I must I started the thread that about my dislikes, not based on any fear of big brother, but on their pervasiveness and the physical security of mobile thrones. It worries me that people entrust their whole life to their mobile phone but are happy to carry then in their back pockets and leave...

    MS Access

Exactly what I did although my initial driver was cost. However, since then the problems people seem to have with 365 makes me glad I did as well. All it seems to give is early access to problems.

Mobile phones (Cell phones in US speak) and the 'Why don't you use the app?'

Generally a mobile phone is a useful bit of kit but am I the only one who dislikes their all pervasiveness. I dislike the fact that people expect me to be available at all hours day and night! Easily solved as when I don't want to available I don't take if with me but then I get the accusatory...
