After much struggle with this same issue I was able to solve the problem by installing the 32 bit version of the 2010 Access Database Engine. For some reason the 64bit version generates this error...

Sorry for late reply. Go to File/Import select .dbf extension and vola!!

This error generally occured when you don't have access of that file over network or in connection string, it unable to reach the destination file.

May be your mdb file is corrupted. So, to fix this issue try manual solutions like Import function. If still problem persists then try free tools which are safe.

Few days ago, I have faced same issue. But after using Compact Repair utility, error got resolved. It takes around 25-30 minutes.
