I have an existing data base uses a link to file excel and it searches the serial number using this table in my form. I want to link another way around same serial number search and it will automatic show or link the file named matches with the serial number in the specific folder. Anybody can help me how to do this.??
so you search a linked XL table (of serial#)
which has a filename, then open this filename? (see below)
Paste this code into a module, and it will open ANY file in its native application.
In a form put the field and a button to open it.
if the file is myFile.pdf, will open it in acrobat
if the file is myFile.doc, it will open the doc in Word
if its just a file path, it will open in file explorer.
etc..
so you select the record on the form
the form shows the serial# and Filename (UNC paths are better than drive letters)
click a button to open it using:
