Hi,

I believe many of Access developers have been involved into working with Excel files (import/export) via VBA. So, I was hoping someone could help me with topic.

When I import the Excel file into Access table, I lose some data due to errors such data type conversion failure, etc.

Is there a way to control that? What are the best techniques to apply?

I will appreciate any tips as regards to Excel file handling in the Access.

Thanks.

Ok what I did was use the wizard and litterally go column by column in the excel spreadsheet selecting the appropriate format for each column.

Also try formatting the columns in excel so they are uniform.

But yes I had to do this a few times...also it didnt work very well when I used a previously created table. What I had to do is from the table window (the one where it lists all the table names) I had to use get data in the File menu then get it from Excel and that automatically created a new table for me. When I tried to import it into an existing table i got all sorts of problems.
