Well, Title pretty much says it... I need to do an upgrade to a mbd frontend to add the "send email in pdf option" (Yes, I know it can be done in code, but too much of a hassle for this DB, I just want to flip the frontend to an accdb) So should I convert both frontend and backend to 2007 format? Or will a accdb frontend link to an mdb backend without problems?

An ACCDB/ACCDE/ACCDR will work with an MDB backend just fine. You can't have any of the new field types (like attachment, or multi-valued fields) but other than that, it will be fine (and you can use prior version mdb as well).
