I've been referencing this forum off and on for many years, decided to finally make an account. Attorney by trade, but my C++ professor in college told me I should be a programmer. Maybe so haha. I created my first access database for a family business in 2005. They still use it today. I haven't used access for some time, though.
Over the past couple years, I have been using Word VBA to automate some tasks for onboarding clients. I didn't have the time to setup a full on program at the time, so I just added automations to my intake notes template here and there over time. I've found the lack of centrality frustrating however, and over the past month have constructed the bones of a quite functional starting database that already addresses all of the needs the Word document did and then some. Now I am looking to build on that.
After tinkering with JS, Electron, and other app building options, I've come back to MS Access. Why? Because it's just so approachable and capable. And there isn't a monthly subscription fee waiting for you at every corner. There are so many plusses.
Big thanks to the major contributors like @isladogs , @MajP , @CJ_London , @Pat Hartman, @The_Doc_Man, and others. You've been a huge help. I'm using MajP's Find as You Type classes, which have saved me hours of frustrating error hunting. Colin's website Isladogs on Access has been a very useful resource as well.
I super happy about where my app is already, and excited about using what I learn here to make it better organized, cleaner and more functional. Happy to be here!
