Access program allowing the creation of a personalized ribbon for Access 2019 and 2021.
The program is installed as an add-in.
The program can be used in French and English.

New version 1.2.2 from 07/10/2024
  • Fixed an error when opening the program when viewing a new version without an internet connection.
  • Added a link to the program download site from the window displayed when clicking on the new version indication button.
  • Documentation update.

Hi @jackyP
Thanks for posting this as a 64-bit ACCDE
Please could you post a 32-bit version as well for the many Access users who still use that bitness

Downloaded and attempting to figure out how to use it. No clue.

Hi @isladogs ,
I read that you cannot run add-ins or accde files compiled in 64-bit version on a 32-bit version, and vice versa.
This would require 2 versions of accde files.
I also use activeX controls adapted to the 64bit version.
My access version is a 2021 64-bit version.
I think for these reasons it will be difficult for me to create a 32-bit version.

HI @Mike Krailo,

The Custom Ribbon Design program is an add-in that you must install

You must open Access as administrator.
Afterwards :
Choose File > Options > Add-ins and then “Access Add-ins” from the Manage dropdown at the bottom. Click Go...

Now the Add-in Manager dialog box shows.
Click "Add New..."
Browse to the ACCDE file and click Open.

I had no problems installing it on my 64-bit Windows tablet but didn't go much further as I don't use that for any serious development work.
I would be very willing to test on my 32-bit machine and have sent a PM offering to create that if the OP is happy for me to do so.

I just tried it again and got this.
1696013951820.png

I am unable to see any option to run as administrator when right clicking the file.

Right click the Access application icon and click Run As Administrator ....then open the ACCDE file

For info:
No admin permission is required for this add-in if the entries in UsysRegInfo are written slightly differently.

Original:
HKEY_CURRENT_ACCESS_PROFILE\Menu Add-ins\AccessRubanCustom_19

With this it works for me without admin rights:
HKEY_CURRENT_ACCESS_PROFILE\Menu Add-Ins\AccessRubanCustom_19

Due to the high number of issues with this example and the number of posts that need to be approved I have moved this thread to the modules and vba forum.

Like many add-ins, the process is a bit convoluted.
Open Access and open any application. Then go to Database Tools, Add-Ins, Add-In Manager.
Click Add New, browse to the ACCDE file and select it then click Install then close the Add-In Manager

Click Database Tools, Add-Ins again then select AccessRubanCustom_19 to load the add-in

Note the comment by @Josef P. in post #12. I had forgotten about that quirk in Access but it does exactly what was described
If you first open the ACCDE file normally then edit the 4 entries in USysRegInfo replacing ...\Add-ins\... with ...\Add-Ins\... you no longer need to Run As Administrator to install it.

@jackyP
Many people are put off installing add-ins because of complex installation processes like this.
For info the installation process for add-ins can be made much simpler as in the examples on my website

This may well be an excellent application though I've not really had time to test it yet.
However, I think you need to provide more detailed information about installing and then using this add-in to create/edit ribbons.

I will change the contents of the UsysRegInfo table as specified by @Josef P. to avoid admin authorization.
I can create a document for installing and using the add-in.
This is going to take a little time.

That would be great. An add-in without accompanying documentation often gets ignored or not installed or installed with many features left unused/unknown.

Or a video demo of using it would be great. That's what Philipp Stiefel did with his Access Dev Tools add-on and it made it very easy to start using right away. He also added detailed instructions on his website for installing it and I had no problem with it.

If it could be made 32bit compatible, that would be great.
