customise sorting

Is there a way to customise the sorting order in a report e.g I want names starting with Dr to come before names starting with A* or Mr*.

Be sneaky. Set up a new field in your query to group the people. Assign names starting with "Dr" to "A", then whatever group you want next to a "B", everyone else to a "C" (or use as many groups as you need).

Sort by that field first, but don't display it, then sort by the actual name.
