Hi,

System - Excel 2007
File Type - Excel 2003-2007 Workbook

I have several Excel Workbooks that are linked through formulas. If I open the main file plus the files that feed into it the formulas do not appear to update.

If I look at the formula, it is showing the full filepath even though the file is open (I would expect to only see the name of file if it is open and not the full filepath).

If I go to Edit Links, and try to open the file through there, I get the message that the file is already open.

If I close the file and just open it through Edit Links the main file updates no problem and the link displays correctly within the formula bar.

My issue is that this seems to have only recently become a problem, and I don't want to have to open the files through the Edit Links pane. Is anyone able to explain, why even though I have the file open, it is not updating nor is the filepath displaying correctly wihtin the formula bar?

Any help greatly aprreciated.

Also within Excel options all the correct buttons are ticked to ensure the links update etc.

thanks.

samjh,

For clarity sake, there is no such thing as "file type - Excel 2003-2007 workbook".
There is:
Excel 97-2003 (XLS) and then ther are the newer Excel 2007-13 formats (XLSX,XLSM,XLSB)

now, you mention that "all the correct buttons are ticked to ensure the links update etc" however, the updates are not happening.
So, with that in mind, what exactly are your settings in the Edit Links Dialog box?

Additionally, have you checked the settings in Trust Center for External Content?
