Tampa Bay Rays are in the playoffs for their first time, and they are playing division rival Boston!

0-0 in the third, if your interested

That team has come a long way. Mark Larson on 970 WFLA used to complain about the abomination they had built in St. Pete to attract a major league team. I wonder if he thinks it was worth it.

Time sure changes things.

George, are you really a stone's throw to my area?
I am not a sports fan.
However, my co-workers and neighbors keep me apprised... (some are at the game as we speak) and I have to say, even though I am originally from Mass, I'm hoping the Rays win tonight.

George, I'm close to the Apollo Beach exit on 75... where are you?
Wait... your profile says Houston... why are you rooting for the Rays?????

I am off the bruce b downs exit on 75. George didnt say go rays. Maybe he was just commenting on the team.

Top of the 7th, 1 out, men on 1st and 2nd, up 1-0 and a no-hitter for Boston. Not going too well at the moment for TB. But, they could still do something.

I lived in the Town 'N Country area of Tampa until about 2 1/2 years ago. both of my kids were raised in the area. I spent about 20 years there myself.

Me either. My respect for the Rays is simply out of a hope that a team I watched grow up with my children does well.

I'm in Atascocita/Humble, Texas. I'd say "rooting" is a little more aggressive than what I'm doing. Just sending a slight hope their general direction.

Not really. I have no idea what game you are referring to - I've never heard of them. 0-0 sounds really exciting. . . . . yawn.

Is it girly schoolgirl rounders you call baseball? Or whimpy football where the players wear so much protection they look like a Michelin man and stop every 30 seconds for a chat about things.

It is a concept you appear to be unable to grasp, judging by your current and past comments on baseball.
Given that, perhaps you should just leave it alone.

By the way, 0-0 sounds a lot like a Priemiership match.

Late in the season, TB was playing at home vs. the Blue Jays (there was a time when we made the playoffs). At the time the Rays had the best record in baseball. Granted it was a mid week game but the stands were half empty. I hope the Rays faithful are turning out in greater numbers for the playoffs.

Just because I have never heard of the teams does not mean I don't understand the concept of the game - whichever one it is. As I said, baseball is a schoolgirls game here called rounders, usually dropped when they reach mid teens.

I realise that people on the North American continent think the whole world is familiar with their strange games and even stranger names (which all seem to end in "sox", which is spelt "socks" by the way) - here's some news, most people I know don't give a stuff about American and Canadian girly games.

And most Americans don't give a stuff about your worthless opinions - :p

Ah good, back to the personal insults. Now I'd better be careful or I'll get banned when you shop me. Fortunately, unlike you I don't resort to personal insults, mine are more generic.

Most Americans don't give a stuff about anything other than what's inside the white picket fence around the US border.

If you are so against baseball, stop commenting in a post about baseball!

George mentioned WFLA so I thought he was local as well until I noticed he was in Houston.

I often lunch at Chili's on BBD. I wonder if our paths ever cross now.

Sounds like it. I live about 5 minutes from that Chili's.

Listen son, I think you will find that I can post in any thread I choose - you are not in a position to tell someone to stop posting in a thread. If you don't like what I post then don't read it - it's not rocket science.

Typical of an American, trying to dictate to someone in another country.
