Hi all

I'm a middle aged man living on the South Coast of the UK. I've used Excel for most of my adult life and dabbled with access on and off but am keen to learn more.

As I'm coming from years of Excel, its proving to be a challenge to think differently about data and how to structure it!

I will be posting some basic and probably stupid questions soon so please bear with me!

Thanks

First, hello and welcome to the forums.

Second, you might wish to search for articles by Uncle Gizmo, one of our experienced members who posted some videos on the subject of transitioning from Excel to Access. You will certainly need to understand the difference between Excel (oriented towards "flat files") and Access (oriented towards relational databases). You should read up on the subject of "Database Normalization" because if you don't, you will quickly get caught in the quicksand of bloated databases that can't easily answer questions that SHOULD be trivial to answer.
