Well, I'm not really all that good at talking about myself, but here it goes. I've got started with computers in the late 80's when I took some BASIC courses at Radio Shack. Attended college in the early 90's for computer science - back when the Internet was in it's infancy. We only had Gopher back then, remember that one? I had a small store front in a strip mall for nearly a decade (2008-2018) where I fixed computers for both end users and small businesses alike. The Pharma Wars in the early 2010's kept me quite busy with virus removal. At one point, I had nearly 175 computers in house for cleaning! When I closed the shop in early '18, my intention was to semi-retire and we (married now 24 years) were going to travel the US on our Road King.
Then, in late 2020, a business client called and asked me if I know anything about databases. Well, I had dappled in it very little over the years and had read Paul Litwin's 1995 paper called "Fundamentals of Relation Database Design" - so I really only had scratched the surface. I went to see what he had and somebody else had taken a massive CSV file from a local gov't agency and created a 'database' from it. This DB contained one (yes ONE!) table and one single form that contained every single column from the CSV, including repetitive data. No queries, no reports, nada.
Codd was probably rolling over in his grave.
So I began my adventure into database development and have learned much along the way. I'm a member over at Rick Rost's site and have trolled this forum as well as others for answers to the many, many questions that I've had. I'm completely self-taught, enjoy solving problems and have produced some quality products for clients since then. I'll still have questions, but hopefully I can also soon be at the point where I can help others with their questions!
Cheers,
Bill
