I'm Old but New! (1 Viewer)

Hi all, I've been tinkering with Access since 1.1 and wrote a Database in Access 2 for some friends that they've been running their business on it since 1993. I've been nagging them for years about updating it, but whilst it still worked they didn't want to . I've had to nurse several old XP machines to keep this running for them as Access 2 won't run on anything newer, but now printer drivers are causing them issues. I started on a replacement for it back in 2018, but had to pause it and then COVID hit, almost bankrupting them.
However, they're back up and running, and I have the green light to update it. However, I'm very rusty and my programming/coding is basic to say the least, but they seem to like the interfaces and workflow I create. So now I'm finding that i spend a lot of time searching for solutions, so decided to join the forum

Hello, Jules, and welcome to the forums.

If the original DB was built correctly, you should be able to get a newer version up and running fairly quickly. However, be aware that a lot of changes over the years have been to make older versions of Access more exacting about following SQL or VBA rules. So where the original was developed "fast, loose, and sloppy" you will see issues.
